A Wax People Party!

17.6.10

Holy Moly, it's my last day in New Cross! My flight is very early Saturday so one of my flat mates (she also has an early flight that day) and I are spending tomorrow at a hotel closer to the airport.

Since all my things are packed up, it's a perfect time for blog updating!! My friend Torrey and I visited Madame Tussuad's Wax Museum a few days ago. It was crazy! Some of the models looked very realistic and some not so much, and there were even a few who looked like they had had a few too many kisses and hugs ;p

It was very crowed when we went so we couldn't get to all the models we wanted to get pictures with, but it was still fun. All the models are life size and have all the correct measurements. It is surprising to see how tall/short some of these people are in "real life".

Off to a good start with Morgan Freeman (and a lady that we didn't know in the back).

Rob Pattinson, much taller than I expected!

Miley didn't have very many friends

The Beckhams, too pretty for their own good but good for us ;D

Nicole and Helen plus Two (Leo DiCaprio & friend)

Real, or not?!?

Triple wax threat.

Oh hey, Whoppi and Robin!

Breakfast at Tiffany's ;)

Didn't you know? Me and King Henry VIII are bff's!

Princess Di <3>
Can you spot Albert? (Also Stephen Hawkins Photobombing)

Picasso, very cool

The Beatles are just chill'n

Brittany in the good ol' days

Winston Churchill (this one is for Wayne!)

J.P.J. being Pope-ish

So now you have an idea of what the museum is like, and I have some pictures to trick my friends ;P

Even More London Fun

1.6.10

I looked through a ton of pictures from the award show but couldn't find any that showed where Brittany and I were. I though about putting some pictures of the celebs up, but who really wants to see them anyways ;P

Rather, here are some more pictures from me! During brad's visit we took an afternoon trip to Hampton Court. I am obsessed with all things Tudor right now so it was perfect timing!! King Henry VIII spent a lot of time here, it is probably his most well known hang out spot.

This is me along the Thames with the palace in the background

Brad at the gate!
We are sitting on pretend thrones set up just like they would have been for King Henry and Catherine of Argon (wife#1)

All the trees were cut to look like mushrooms and Hershey kisses

We decided to grab a bite to eat, a chicken stew pie and coffee with bread- very 1500s

One of the main gardens. They were so extravagant.

In the distance you can see all the chimneys- these are typical architecture from the Tudor era.

Another lovely garden.

Brad with the largest and oldest grapevine in the world!

And this is its original root, it's crazy big like a tree trunk

There were actors that walked around as Henry and his last wife pretending it was their wedding day.

This was definitely a highlight for me, we were a bit pressed for time but it was very fun. The gardens were beautiful and there is so much history wrapped up in the palace!

Some Days Life Suprises Me

26.5.10

I just got home from a day that took a very interesting and exciting turn.

My flatmate Brittany and I went into the city to run some errands and get lunch. We decided to go into Central London for lunch and happened upon a weird crowd of people. There were barriers and security people and we were intrigued! We asked one of the security guys what was happening and they said there was an award show there tonight. Turns out we had stumbled upon the red carpet for the National Movie Awards!

Unfortunately neither of us had a camera since we weren't expecting excitement, but we went up onto a balcony across the driveway and got to see some cool people. Even though we don't have pictures I will brag a bit ;) (I will also search press pics tomorrow to find some photos)

So here is who we saw (in order of appearance):

Chris North (Mr. Big, Sex & the City)

Simon Pegg (Sean of the Dead)

Josh Jackson (Dawson's Creek)

Diane Kruger (Helen, Troy)

Ron Livingston (Office Space)

Peter Facinelli (Dad Vampire, Twilight)

Jackson Rathbone (Skinny Brother Vampire, Twilight)

Chris Rock

Gwyneth Paltrow

Orlando Bloom (Personal Fav!!)

Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes (Crazy, but nonetheless cool to see)

Of course lots of other famous people were there (like the Harry Potter Kids) but not everyone did the runway, too cold I imagine.

So, that was my crazy afternoon. We stood out there for a few hours and it was a blast! I was going to post some more visiting month pictures, but I think this will due for today!

xox

Oh yes, there's more

25.5.10

Here are a few more from here and there:

Brad and his mom on the train

HUGE ancient columns at one of the many many museums we went to (that is Brad in the bottom right...)

Goofball

Palm trees! They are in a lot of places here, who would have known??

Me and a super cute flower bed at Regents Park (my personal favorite)

Walking up to the restrooms, so adorable.

I made a squirrel friend! He came up and sat on my lap for a second, and I fed him a grape ( I am biting off peices of the grape, not trying to be a squirrel ;))

Well that's all....for today!

Part II

22.5.10

As promised, here are more pictures! These are pretty self explanatory, but I will give you some background.

Of course going to Stone Henge is up there on the list of things to do in England, but going with Brad and his mom made it extra fun. When Brad was younger he did a report on the henge and since then has always found it a bit more fascinating. He was practically giddy with excitement.

We arrived after a 2 hour train ride to an itty bitty town, where we found one bus going to the henge. It happened to be a tour bus, which made the trip even better. It took about 30 minutes to get to the site and once we were there we were dropped off to navigate a gift ship, audio guide stand and a concessions area. Who knows how we managed! It was a bit chilly and windy but there was sun, so we weren't complaining.

The it was off to the stones. It is amazing how each step we took gave us a new and beautiful view of the ancient structure. This made it hard not to take 100 pictures. It also amazed us how from different areas around the henge it could go from looking like a humongous beast to looking like something you might find in a playground. Oh the wonders of nature!

We ended up staying at the site for about an hour, then we headed back to the town where we had a lovely lunch before taking the train back to London.

All in all it was a Wonderful day trip that I am so glad we took.

And here are some of he photos!

The view as we approached the henge

One of those stunning angles

Brad admiring the henge

Me and the sheep! (they were all around the roped off area)

Us and the henge :)

This is a panoramic video of the area around Stone Henge

21.5.10

I've been M.I.A. but I'm back!

I have been wondering for a long time what the best way is to get all the pictures I have from the last month up here. Today I decided, it doesn't matter how they are up as long as they are up!

For starters, during Mom's visit we almost exclusively used Beth's camera. I will let you peruse her lovely posts as you please.

With no further a-due, here is the first bunch of pictures I have!

The first thing we did was a London Duck Tour!

The Egyptian area in Harrods, just get used to the silly Brad pictures ;)

At least Brad has his clothes on....

Yay phone booths!

Told you so......

The Rosetta Stone, very cool

The Globe Theater, on a rainy London day: Couldn't have been more appropriate.

Hmmm, was he or wasn't he???

To be continued........

No Such Thing As Too Much Fun

29.4.10

Hello hello!

Today begins the second leg of my marathon company month. I dropped Mom off at the airport Tuesday after her two week visit (here and in Milan) and then this morning I picked up Brad and Mrs. Erla (two weeks and one week respectively)!

Due to all the cram-packed fun we have been having, there just hasn't been time (or energy) to update my blog.

I will try and post some pictures of the goings-ons but no promises!! Now it is time to tuck in and hope for sunshine tomorrow!!

xoxo
